Abdication of HRH Prince Leonard

HRH Prince Leonard was called forward and approached the microphone and said some words of thanks for his time (47+ years) as Sovereign of the PHR and explained that it was for reasons of his degenerating health that he had started to prepare for just this event approx 3 years ago but the final decision had to come quickly to him in recent months as he is aware that his health is now deteriorating at a faster rate and he still has much he wishes to complete so now is the time to step back, a time where he will still be around to lend support or advice or anything else that the new Sovereign may ask for.

HRH Prince Leonard then read out the words that he was to sign in his declaration of abdication, those words being:

I, HRH Prince Leonard George Casley,
founding Sovereign of the Principality of Hutt River,
do freely declare that I am abdicating this day,
being the 11th Day of February 2017, in the 47th year of my reign
in favour of my fourth son,

HRH Prince Graeme Ernest Casley

Given under my hand and Great Seal this 11th Day of February, 2017 in
HRH Princess Shirley’s Chapel of Nain, Principality of Hutt River
in the presence of those attending and the Crown Council witnesses noted.
