Tea-Rooms
extension under construction Construction has begun on extensions to the Principality Tea-Rooms & Function Centre so as to enlarge it's handling capacity and to increase the range of uses for the building and it's features, including it becoming the Club Rooms & "19th Hole" for the Royal Hutt River Golf Club. This construction when finished will see the existing concrete slabbed veranda covered with a roof and then a second raised & roofed veranda area created with a solid concrete floor which will effectively double the existing outdoor floor area. This second area will be accessible above the existing veranda via a couple of steps and will be located behind a retaining wall. The walls surrounding the enclosure will be half height and made from large cement blocks. The upper half from the top of the blocks to the roof will be enclosed with either perspex or more likely heavy plastic outdoor sheeting. It is envisaged that seating and tables will be placed
on both floor areas so that visitors may stop and take a rest The building will serve as the Royal Hutt River Golf Club "19th Hole" and will form the main clubrooms of the RHRGC once a golf course is eventually in place. More on this later and photos will be
regularly added as construction continues:.......

September 2010 Final touches to the Tea Room extensions have been completed and the result is more than double the capacity previously possible for functions etc and a fabulous shaded though outdoor area for visitors to sit and relax and enjoy a cuppa. The Tea Rooms, now primarily used as a function/reception centre, also provide a fantastic function venue for up to 120 people and are used for this purpose for the occasional wedding reception, State Receptions and for morning and afternoon teas for groups such as visiting passengers from Cruise Ships that pull into Geraldton and travel out to the Principality on a regular basis. |
