November 2008

10th November 2008

Greetings to you all!

The Principality of Hutt River has, since 1978, been an International Member, along with all of the other Sovereign States of the world who are signatories, of the Geneva Conventions of 12th August 1949.

The original accession document was signed on behalf of this Principality by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Arthur Wayne Casley and myself, HRH Prince Leonard, Sovereign of the Principality of Hutt River on the 14th Day of December 1978.

Today in 2008, some thirty years after becoming a signatory to the Geneva Conventions, the Principality can be seen playing an active role in world affairs. The Principality’s latest involvement being demonstrated by the attendance of two of the Principality’s Hon Consuls, the Hon Consul to Benin, Sir Kerekou Yamoude and the Principality’s Hon Consul to Cote D’ Ivoire, Dame R. Morvan at the HCCGH - FICAC (World Federation of Consuls) 1st African Regional Conference held recently in Accra, Ghana.

It has been a good year overseeing the growth of the Principality and we would like to make special mention once again of our many Hon. Representatives around the globe who, in the last 12 months, have achieved a great deal, upon the world stage, on behalf of this Principality and a great debt is owed them all. The tireless efforts of our representatives and supporters give us strength in all our endeavours.

Very soon Christmas and the festive season will be upon us, a difficult year lays ahead for the world as we all turn to the problems of the world’s financial crisis; so before this approaching holiday season passes us by I, along with Princess Shirley and all of us here at the Principality, take this opportunity to wish all of  our Representatives,  our loyal Citizens and our many friends around the world a very Merry Christmas and a safe, prosperous and joyous New Year for 2009.

Our Best Wishes to you all!

June 2008

16th June 2008

Greetings to you all!

Another pair of anniversaries pass, both the 38th Anniversary of Secession and the 61st Wedding Anniversary of myself and Princess Shirley.
Thankyou for all the cards and e-mails of best wishes received over the period, we appreciated them all very much.

The Anniversary weekend saw the announcement of the Anniversary Honours List.
Something I get great enjoyment from is the awarding of honours in recognition of dedicated works and services of not only our own Citizens but of individuals of all nations, from all walks of life, who have been found to be deserving of such an honour so have been recommended to me for consideration.

There are some wonderful people recommended for Awards and recognition at every opportunity, though I would like to ensure that it is understood that these awards are not just open to citizens of the Principality but for persons of every nation.

Should anyone feel that they would like to nominate someone, male or female, for recognition for the work that they have done; be it for charity, for the community, maybe dedicated service in areas of health, education, arts, public service etc etc then write a letter detailing who you would like to recommend for formal recognition and why, making sure that you include a detailed summary such as a curriculum vitae/resume for the person that you are nominating and include a photo or 2 as part of your application, remember also to ensure that we have permission to publish a photo and the award as we do on this website should it be successful and e-mail to the Earl Marshal of the Principality's Royal College of Heraldry, Dr Sir David Burkart KCRO. (see e-mail link below.)
Remember that this application is what will be used to decide a potential award of recognition from one of the Four Orders of Chivalry of the principality, so present your applicant as best you possibly can. Awards are available from the granting of the Title "Honourable" to the bestowal of a Knighthood or even higher award.

Our next and final Awards for 2008 will be announced for my 83rd birthday on 27th August 2008, so applications will need to be completed and received by the Earl Marshal no later than the end of July 2008 when applications will close.

Our Best Wishes to you all!

E-MAIL the Earl Marshal

February 2008

17th February 2008

Greetings to you all!

Once again we must thank all of our Representatives and friends, Citizens and people from all over the globe who forwarded their messages of hope and goodwill to us for the holiday season and the New Year, of which we of course are now forging ahead into, the year 2008.

This year will continue to see our small Nation advance upon the world’s stage as our people continue to represent us with such fervour. It will also see the release of further coin and stamp issues throughout the year as celebrations of various events and milestones are reached.

2008 will also see my wife, Princess Shirley, mark her 80th Birthday, a great milestone in itself and one that we will be celebrating.

On a sad note, we saw the passing of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and I have written a short tribute to this man of both peace and spiritual. (Click Here)

Our Best Wishes to you all!
