Dear Prince Graeme,

We wish to send our heart felt condolences to your entire family.

We had the pleasure of staying overnight last April and met both Prince Leonard and Prince Graeme. My 7 year old daughter still talks about the day she met 2 Princes.

We left Hutt River Province in complete awe of the amazing man Prince Leonard. A true inspiration.

RIP Prince Leonard the only positive is that you are united with your Shirley.

You are a true legend.

Your Royal Highness Prince Graeme.

On behalf of the Royal Enfield Club of Australia, may I offer our condolences to the Family of Prince Leonard and all close associates.

Dear Lord Baikie.

Lady Valerie and I, and indeed my brother John in Malta when I contacted him, were all very sad to hear the news yesterday that Prince Leonard had passed.

I would appreciate it if you could pass to Prince Graeme our sincere condolences, and assure him that we, like many others, have the nicest warm memories of his late father and Princess Shirley.

We very much enjoyed meeting the family when I was honoured with my knighthood, and will never forget the hospitality offered to us all on our visit to Hutt River.

I believe the funeral may be taking place in Geraldton, and regret we won’t be able to get up for that, if I am misinformed and it is to be held here, we would be honoured to attend and pay our respects.

Our very best wishes to and your family too.

Sincerely,

Sir Michael & Lady Valerie Barnes, K.S.O.L.

Dear Prince Graeme and family

Prince Leonard, the founder, was your father and a fine man. He was also the father of a fabulous idea -- a principality at the bottom of the world.

I recall meeting him in the 1970s when visiting the principality as a young reporter. He and Princess Shirley were so welcoming. Fine people.

This is sad and difficult time. My Thoughts are with you and your family.

Please accept my condolences.

HRH was always a great friend of the Royal Enfield Club of Australia and was our esteemed Club Patron for many years.  I know he took a keen interest in our activities and his letters to Club Members were always well received when read to Members at our AGMs.

Prince Graeme, family and friends'

We are saddened to hear the news of Prince Leonard’s passing. We were the lucky ones that travelled to Hutt River and met the late Prince shortly before he advocated. I have attached a photo of our daughter when we met Prince Leonard on our trip. Although still young she was surprised and quiet sad of the news.

We wish you all the best in this time of grief and hope the best for the future of Hutt River Province

Dear Prince Graeme.

The world feels slightly smaller today.
Those who dare to dream - and who in their turn find ways to turn their dreams into reality - they serve to inspire us all.
This is not an original observation, but it's still worth reiterating: Prince Leonard was - and remains - an inspiration - and his legacy will inspire generations of idealists to come.

Prince Leonard led where others only ever quietly dreamed of going; and he proved that one man holding firm to his beliefs and values can change the world for the better.

Rest In Peace Prince Leonard.

Dear Prince Graeme.

We visited with Prince Leonard at the Hutt River Province several years ago and were duly impressed with his welcome, knowledge and warm personality. He shared some of his writings with us, as well as took time to show us around.

I especially enjoyed our talks about crystals, rocks and gemstones as it is a true passion of mine, as well as his.

May Prince Leonard rest in peace.

Dear Prince Graeme

May we take this opportunity to extend our sincerest condolences to your Family on the passing of “Prince Leonard”.

We were fortunate enough to have met your Father at Hutt River Province in 2014, and we remember him as a wise man with a fantastic personality. He talked with us at length about Princess Shirley, his early potato marketing strategies and of course Malcolm Fraser and his encounters with the unfair systems that caused the creation of Hutt River Province.

Take comfort in knowing that he was extremely well liked and admired by many.

May God Bless you all,

  Dear Prince Graeme

This morning we learned with deep sadness of the passing of Prince Leonard. Although we met your father only once, at his invitation to attend the launch of a William Pitt book in Sydney, and only spent brief time with him, that time was much enjoyed and we felt an immediate sharing of friendship.

You may not know that I wrote to Prince Leonard several years ago asking his permission to write a musical about his life. My husband who is a well known composer and arranger wrote the music and I wrote the book which is intended as a low bow to the integrity and intelligence your father displayed during a very difficult time, and we were delighted that your father fully endorsed the concept. I wrote it as a kind of Mouse That Roared if you are familiar with that production. We spent a lot of time in researching the situation and although several directors have loved the script, finding finance to mount the piece has never eventuated. This is a great disappointment to us as we really wanted Prince Leonard to reap some kind of broad acknowledgement for his efforts. Maybe that will still happen, we still keep trying.

The passing of your father strikes such a sad chord with me, he stood up against the corrupt government, not for just himself but for all farmers and their wheat crops. That kind of thinking is not so thick on the ground these days and the world is so much poorer for his loss.

With our sincere Condolences,

Alwyn and Laurie Lewis

Dear Prince Graeme,

It is with great sadness that on Wednesday afternoon I received notice of the passing of your father, His Royal Highness Prince Leonard.

Hello,

I was very sad to hear of the passing of HRH Prince Leonard of the Principality of Hutt River.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Prince and indeed Princess Shirley on many occasions when I worked as a tour guide / driver for a local Perth tour company. Our visits to Hutt River were always an interesting part of the trip.

I have fond memories of the Prince going through his 'routine' in the gift shop and of him always informing the tour groups that they needed to look after me … a royal decree!

Best wishes at this sad time ….

  Dear Prince Graeme.

It saddened me to hear of the passing of such a lovely man as the Prince. Please accept my deepest condolences on behalf of myself, husband and family. I shed a tear or two but then it came to mind that he is now with his Princess once again.

We visited the Province many years ago on our travels around Australia and he was very interested and listened with great interest to our tails of our travels and places we had seen thus far. He made the time for us that day..And we have been telling everyone bout that day and our visit..

I am in awe of what he achieved and done so much, he left a lasting impression on me to fight for what you want..

I hope 1 day we make it back to WA from NSW so we can pay our respects to him in person.

Dear Prince Graeme.

It is with sadness, we received new of the Passing of Prince Leonard  and we would like to send our Condolences, and while our connection is not personal, family history and connections have always been important to me so I have followed your news with interest, and respect. We offer our support at this difficult time  and pray that the continuation of the family heritage and history is sustained.

For some years we have followed some of the family history through Aunty Ruth Smith (Jones) daughter of Doris Hilma Casley, Doris better know as Mummsy is my husbands grandmother.

Shirley Norma Jones (Sister of Ruth) Married Malcolm Rex Townrow in 1946.

We live in Merredin and have on occasion crossed paths with those who farmed around Westonia back in Leonard and Shirley’s day. With our children we have visited the province and  have copies of many articles written by your father.

Much Care and Respect to your families'

Kind Regards

Dear citizens of Hutt River.

My condolences to you all on the passing of prince Leonard. Hutt river means something to me of consequence about equity and the social contract said to exist between states and citizens.

I wish you all the best.

Excellence.

Dear Prince Graeme

It is with great sadness that I learned the rapel of God from His Highness Prince Leonard. If God takes us one to one our friends, it is to make them the stars of our heaven so I remain convinced that he will continue from the top to pay special attention not only to the people of the Principality and especially to you who had today the heavy burden of continuing the work of this great statesman with whom we had the chance to share great vision thanks to his high quality of listening.

I beg you to receive my heartfelt condolences.

Sir,

It is with profound regret that I leaned of the demise of your revered head of state, HRH Prince Leonard.

I had the very great privilege of meeting Prince Leonard in 1982 when he was on an official visit to No.1 Squadron, RHRPAF, at that time stationed at Melton Field near Melbourne in Victoria.  The sole aircraft attached to the squadron at that time was a superb FUJI I had the pleasure of flying on occasion.

The commanding officer at the time was my friend Wing Commander (RHRPAF) David Thomas.  I was subsequently promoted to the rank of Wing Commander (RHRPAF) by HRH Prince Leonard and I retain to this day my letter of authority.

I wish the Principality all the best for the future and will continue to visit your webpage to stay up to date with your activities.

Best regards,
Chris McDonald

Too all,

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Prince Leonard. He was a great man who valued equality and justice when facing the tyranny of a repressive, bureaucratic, and self-serving government.

His Highness showed immense creativity, resourcefulness and incredible pluck to stand up for what was right regardless of the consequences, even when he knew those consequences would be unduly biased against him. He has been and will continue to be a great inspiration.

I wish Prince Graeme wisdom as he continues to rule and his fellow siblings, peace and a sound resolve now that His Highness has departed.

Kindest Regards,
Sir Mark A Hartley K.R.O.

Dear Prince Graeme and family,

I wish to send you my warmest and most sincere condolences. Your father, Prince Leonard, was one of the most outstanding personalities.

I will always remember my short, but unforgettable, relationship with him, when I was researching the book on the Principality.

 CREMATION - FAREWELL SERVICES

In line with Prince Leonard's wishes, he will be cremated at a private ceremony for family and invited guests only,
at the Geraldton Crematorium Friday February 22nd 2019.

It was Prince Leonard's wish that his ashes be spread in the PHR and this we will likely do over the Australian Easter long weekend April 19 - 22 as part of a public farewell and to acknowledge the 49th anniversary of the foundation of the PHR by Prince Leonard back on April 21st 1970. Members of the public will be invited to attend on this weekend to pay their last respects for Prince Leonard and to help lay his ashes in the Principality as he so desired.

At this stage, the likely day for the celebration will be Sunday April 21st which is also the 49th anniversary of the PHR.
More will be published concerning the celebration weekend as information comes to hand.
Please keep watching the website for further details.

If you would like to attend on that weekend then you must contact us first to receive an invitation
as we do have to consider the numbers that can attend.
